Benghazi University has joined the National Program for Solar Energy Localization (NPLSE). A meeting was held for the Legislative Advisory Committee for the program’s policies initiated by the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, aiming to establish legislative and regulatory frameworks for developing future solar energy resources.

The Center for Institutional Development at Benghazi University participated in efforts to develop the national regulatory policy for solar renewable energies in collaboration with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, the initiator of the program. The national program aims to localize 3000 megawatts of electricity generated from solar energy in Libya.

Multiple teams from Benghazi University are involved in the development of national policy, including professors from engineering, law, environment, and development branches. Engineers from the electricity and energy sector in the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy also participate, along with the director of the Investment Promotion Authority in Benghazi and eastern Libya.

This step aims to enhance Libya’s capabilities in the field of solar energy and develop the necessary policies and legislation to optimize the use of this clean and renewable energy source.
